The Last 5%: Building the Future

This final push focuses on building two self-sustaining ecosystems in Kokelen, Mali. By drilling two wells and constructing greenhouses on newly acquired farmland, we aim to achieve year-round agricultural production, combat food insecurity, and empower women—the backbone of food production in Mali. With these essential resources, we can provide sustainable livelihoods, support education, and ensure a brighter future for families and communities.

Synergy of Collaborative MissionsOur work is strengthened by the alignment of four dynamic entities, each bringing unique strengths to this transformative collaboration:

AGILE-International: Empowering Women, Restoring Abundance

Since its founding in 2012, AGILE-International has focused on empowering rural women farmers and restoring food security through traditional and innovative agricultural practices. By securing land, providing training, and implementing social entrepreneurship initiatives, we are building self-reliant communities in Mali and beyond.

Djimi Djama: Celebrating African Craftsmanship

Djimi Djama bridges the gap between local artisans and global consumers through its e-commerce platform. By offering meticulously handcrafted African goods, we not only preserve cultural heritage but reinvest proceeds into grassroots development projects, including AGILE-International’s initiatives.

Challenges and Solutions

Women in Mali face systemic barriers, including limited access to land, insufficient resources, and high unemployment rates. These challenges perpetuate cycles of poverty and food insecurity. To address these issues, we:

  • Drill wells and build greenhouses for year-round agricultural production.
  • Support education for children by improving family economic stability.
  • Provide training and resources for women to lead their communities.
  • Leverage strategic partnerships to scale and sustain impactful initiatives.

Our Vision for the Future

We envision a world where communities from Timbuktu to Sikasso and beyond thrive through mutual aid, justice, and innovation. By completing the last 5%, we will:

  • Build the infrastructure for year-round food production.
  • Achieve full self-sustainability, transitioning leadership to the next generation.
  • Expand our impact regionally, fostering resilience and empowerment.
